TCG has broad expertise in out-licensing technology having been involved in more than one hundred out-licensing efforts. This experience includes market opportunity evaluation, 
“packaging the technology” for marketing purposes, identifying potential licensees, managing contacts with prospective licensees, and in concluding successful license agreements. Our experience includes working with major corporations and start-up companies as well as universities and independent research organizations in the US and Europe. Each area poses unique challenges which TCG knows well from past projects.
Licensing and partnerships always begin with high expectations. The licensor expects the licensee to be successful, and pay significant royalties on sales. While the license agreement must be carefully structured to include a fair payment for the value of the technology, other aspects of the agreement are equally important. For licensors, there must be a mechanism whereby the technology can be returned if the licensee does not meet minimum expectations. For the licensee, there must be guarantees that the owner of the patent will maintain the patent and defend against infringement; and assurances that the licensor’s technical experts will assist in the transfer of the know-how important to an early stage-technology.
