James Sheldon

James SheldonMr. Sheldon has more than thirty years experience in business, law, and education and his career has focused on the assessment of emerging technologies and in the creation of new ventures to address attractive commercial opportunities. Two public companies (Embrex, Inc. and Ensys, Inc.) and a number of privately held companies have resulted from his efforts.

Mr. Sheldon was a principal in or consultant to, several high technology start-up companies in the Research Triangle area. These included venture capital backed firms such as BioNexus, CTi Data, Healthware Corporation, and Triangle Biomedical Sciences.

Mr. Sheldon is also an Adjunct Professor at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, teaching courses in entrepreneurship and business planning.

Mr. Sheldon was a member of the founding group of the Boston law firm of Testa, Hurwitz and Thibeault, one of the nation's premier law firms in the representation of technology-based companies and venture capital firms. His practice was in the fields of corporate, securities and tax law, with specialization in high technology and venture capital issues. Representative public clients included Adage, American Research and Development, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Teradyne.

Mr. Sheldon received his B.A. degree from Dartmouth College, a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, an L.L.M. from the Boston University Law School Graduate Tax Program, and a post-graduate degree from the University of Stockholm School of Law. He is a member of the California, Massachusetts and North Carolina bars.
